The evening was filled with
excitement. I was as nervous as they come, but there was
Elizabeth, totally calm talking with her friends. How come I was
nervous? I don't know...I guess I was just nervous for her.
The people came and came and came until the Recital Hall was nearly
full.
It holds about 200 people. Right on cue, Dr. Jeffery Crum
walked out on stage to introduce Elizabeth's recital. I sat there
nervous, excited, proud, and blessed as Elizabeth walked onto the stage.
The crowd began to clap and continued through Elizabeth's bow and until
she sat down to play her first song. She blew the crowd away with
her first song, an original arrangement of Come Christians, Join
To Sing. During her recital, I looked over at her father, sitting there just as happy and as proud as could be, and
I saw a couple of tears trickle down his cheek. About 40
minutes later it was all over. Elizabeth played her last song, and the
crown erupted in clapping. She exited the stage and came back with her
two dozen long stem red roses that I had bought for her. She came
back to bow two more times to the thunderous applause of the crowd.
She then exited the stage and greeted the audience as they came by one by one to express their congratulations. Many compliments and
praises were given.
After the audience left, our families and some close friends took pictures and
then went back to the house for some refreshments. |
